2017 Steelers vs Jaguars Divisional Playoff ![]() A disgusting, unforgiveable playoff loss to an inferior team. After being blown out by Jacksonville in the regular season, the Steelers had every reason to be prepared for this game. Instead, Blake friggin' Bortles hangs 45 points on them at home. The Steelers sleepwalk through an error filled 1st half and trail 21-0 barely three minutes into the 2nd. Ben throws for 469 yds and 5 TDs, but an early INT deep in Pittsburgh territory sets up a Fournette TD, and a strip sack late in the half is scooped up and returned 50 yds for a TD. To his credit, Ben keeps fighting and claws back to within one score 4 separate times, but defense contributes nothing. No sacks, no turnovers, a clean pocket for Bortles, and no answer for Fournette, who grinds them for 109 yds and 3 TDs. Mike Tomlin and his staff are thoroughly outcoached and fail to adjust on either side of the ball. Thus, a 13-win team with scary talent and every expectation of contending for a Super Bowl goes one-and-done in humiliating fashion. For me, this game was the last straw... proof that Mike Tomlin is no longer capable of winning a championship, despite fielding a championship-caliber roster. |
