2004 Steelers at Lions Preseason

Big Ben's first-ever pro action comes early in the 2nd quarter, and he immediately shows he belongs. He runs the offense for 4 possessions, going 8 of 13 for 84 yds with 1 TD and 0 INTs, plus a 10 yd scramble that shows the same "extend the play" ability he lives on throughout his Hall of Fame career.
His fist completion is a simple, calming 15 yd throw to Riemersma to move the chains. That opening series stalls and ends with a long Jeff Reed FG try that comes up short, but Ben responds with his best stretch of the night on the next drive. He opens it with a 14 yd completion to Randle El, then stays poised when the ground game gets stuffed, and benefits from a huge fake punt where Troy Polamalu takes a direct snap and weaves 63 yds to set up 1st-and-goal. Two snaps later, Ben lofts a 7 yd TD to Randle El to cap his debut highlight.
