2003 Steelers at Chiefs ![]() Pittsburgh comes out hot in KC and looks ready to run away with it early. On the Chiefs' opening possession, Chad Scott jumps a Trent Green throw and takes it 26 yds for a TD, and Jeff Reed adds a short FG to make it 10-0. The Chiefs wake up when Dante Hall takes the kickoff 100 yds, and while Tommy Maddox answers with a 33 yd TD to Plaxico Burress for a 17-7 1st quarter lead, that's the last time the Steelers feel comfortable. From there, Kansas City finds its rhythm on offense, and the turnovers start turning into points. Priest Holmes caps a long drive with a short TD burst, Trent Green caps another long drive with a short TD pass to Jason Dunn, then the real back-breaker hits: a tipped ball turns into Jerome Woods’ 46 yd pick-6, and suddenly the Steelers are down by 10. Pittsburgh hangs around with a Reed 51 yd FG to end the half, but Maddox keeps getting picked (3 INTs) and the Chiefs keep cashing in. Holmes finishes with 3 rushing TDs, including a late 31 yd burst, and a Verron Haynes fumble sets up another score. |
