2002 BCS National Championship Ohio State vs Miami ![]() Ohio State and Miami trade blows all night in a game loaded with turning points. Craig Krenzel's 1-yd sneak gets the Buckeyes on the board, and Maurice Clarett’s 7-yd run late in the half makes it 14-7 at the break. Early in the 3rd, Krenzel is picked off in the end zone, but Clarett chases down Sean Taylor and rips the ball away, turning what could've been disaster into one of the game's defining moments. The defense keeps Ken Dorsey off balance all night, and the game takes a grim turn when Willis McGahee suffers a gruesome knee injury. After falling behind 17-7, Miami rallies to tie it on the final play of regulation and force overtime. In the 1st OT, Miami scores first. Facing 4th-and-14 with the season hanging by a thread, Krenzel delivers a strike to Michael Jenkins for a clutch first down that keeps the Buckeyes alive. Moments later, a controversial pass interference call on 4th-and-3 extends the drive again, and Krenzel sneaks in for the tying TD. In the 2nd OT, Clarett powers in from 5 yds, and the defense holds on the goal line to deliver one of the greatest wins in Ohio State history. |
