 Cincinnati dominates Pittsburgh from the start, exposing the Steelers’ glaring weaknesses on both sides of the ball. Bubby Brister takes a beating, sacked 6 times for 56 yds, while the Bengals pile up 520 total yds to the Steelers’ 274. Boomer Esiason connects on 16 passes for 328 yds, including a 27-yd TD to Eddie Brown. Pittsburgh manages one decent drive to cut the deficit to 20-10 early in the 3rd, but Cincinnati responds with back-to-back long marches of 81 and 96 yds for TDs that bury the Steelers. The Bengals never punt, convert 8 of 10 3rd downs, and record 30 first downs. Meanwhile, the Steelers’ offense sputters, and their defense collapses against big plays through the air. A franchise-record 144 yds in penalties adds to the misery as Pittsburgh drops to 0-2, outscored 92-10 across the first two games. |
