Monday Night Football on ESPN
Our Superbowl Champs head down south to seek a little revenge on the Jaguars
led by Head Coach Jack Del Rio !
What revenge are we talking about ? This is the burning question ....... Let
us grab some Green Tea with Plum and take a quick trip back in time to October
16, 2005 when those Jags came into our home and created chaos and also walked
away with their tails high in the air with a Tommy Maddox Interception ( you
see folks, Big Ben was not in the game due to a knee injury and Hines was sidelined
with a pulled hammy ) that was returned for a an OT Touchdown ..... Freakin
Lucky ! That final score was 23-17 as will not be the case this Monday night.
Guess who is the Assistant Coach for Jacksonville ? Hmmm, tell us Bill
Who got busted last year for selling tickets ? No, it was not Pokey D Kewl
....
None other then Mike "Ticket Scalper" Tice ....
This is the same Mike Tice that used to be the Head Coach of the Vikings until
he got FIRED !
HOLD ON HERE A MINUTE !
My mind is just not up to snuff while writing this article like it was last
year, my heart ( no pun intened ) is really deep with the Steelers and I know
so are yours ..... So let's take this pre-game article off the paved surface
and skip the stats and player comparisions and just lay out the bottom line
facts here for a minute !
Last week both teams won thir game, we seen the Jags start the game off very
weak and unorganized, in essense it was very sloppy play and bang ..... They
opened up and allowed Taylor to rack up 115 combined yards, Byron seemed to
have been allowed more flexible options in both his passing game and running
game, thus we seen him run in for a score and also pass for a score, the defense
lost a key player and had a suitable replacement .....
Keys to stopping this Jag team is simple, pressure and I mean pressure Byron,
we will see him make horrible throws and get all out of whack in the pocket,
we also need to keep a close eye on Taylor, if he runs more then 100 yards,
it could be trouble, but our Steeler D has the ability to shut down the run
while also pacing the receivers ...... We can do this ..... It is no big deal
here !
Last year, we did not have two of our key players in the game which would have
made the difference, Maddox is no longer here to make those wounded duck throws
....
Charlie did a really good job for us last game, he looked good, made solid
passes and sound decisions that proved to be a winning combination .....
Reading several articles, Big Ben, the Man of Steel himself states he is ready
to play ....... Does Cowher let him play is the burning question on everyone's
mind ! My opinion is simple, give Charlie the start and let Ben rest anouther
week providing we stay ahead in the game, Ben has been through so much and could
use this extra time to mend ..... Why risk long term for short term gain, right?
We have an outstandng receiving fleet that will make the difference in spreading
out the Jags D and allowing Parker to gain some serious yardage, I have a feeling
we will see our newest addition " The Dump Truck " make a few goal
line carries which will punch through for a score or two on Monday night ....
Duce ? Well, actions during the pre-season and last week speak for themselves,
Davenport is just what the doctor ordered .....
This game will be tough, do not get me wrong ..... On the road down in Florida
against this Jag team will show us what we are molding into this season, it
is a true test for our Steelers, one which we can win with smart playing ...
Steelers 24 Jags 20
Being I am on IR, I just am not myself as I was last season, I will be back
to rare form soon ...... Promise !
