Key Stats & Facts
• Deseha Townsend: 2 INTs, 1 fumble recovery and a TD! Deshea played like an old-school Rod Woodson, folks! He was everywhere! He also made 9 tackles and defensed several passes. Well done!

• Jerome Bettis: 115 yards & a TD to move into 7th place all-time! Jerome played a marvelous game and now needs less than 20 yards to move into 6th place ahead of Jim Brown.

• Tommy Maddox: 11 of 18 for 160 yards & 3 TDs! Isn't it amazing what Tommy can do with time to throw and a running game?

Reaction to Week 16: Steelers vs Chargers
Not Meaningless
Game meant a LOT to those
of us who were there

Article by McMillen & Wife

I've heard a lot of grumbling ("mild" understatement) over the last couple of weeks that since the games no longer "mean" anything, Cowher should play our younger players to evaluate them rather than trying to actually win the games.

As a fan who attended Sunday's entertaining win over the Chargers, and on behalf of the Steeler-crazy friend I took to his first-ever Steelers game, let me tell all of you "don't play to win" naysayers this:

Kiss my pearly-white ass.

I thank Bill Cowher from the bottom of my heart for going out there and doing what it took to win the game. I'm glad I didn't spend eight hours in the car, away from my family, to watch what many of you wish would've amounted to a training camp scrimmage. The Steelers played their hearts out and my buddy & I got to see one helluva show!

From my viewpoint, I couldn't have picked a better game to go to. It was awesome, and there is no doubt in my mind that it wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable had we lost, especially if we had driven all that way knowing that winning wasn't even our goal.

BTW, Sandy couldn't accompany me (our oldest was sick with the flu that our youngest and I are now suffering from), so this was only the second game I've ever been to without her. And while her Steeler record remains an impressive 22-1, my record improved to an almost equally sweet 23-2.

Want one for the thumb, folks? Get us season tickets!

The bottom line is, Cowher owes it to the fans to do whatever he can to win every game. This game may have been "meaningless" to those of you content to sit in your living rooms and bitch about Cowher, but it was extremely meaningful to me and the other 52,000+ who braved windchills in the teens and turned out to cheer on their team.

For me, this was a great win. Hats off and a big thank you to Deshea Townsend, Jerome Bettis, James Farrior, Tommy Maddox, Hines Ward, Plaxico Burress and the rest of the Steelers. I, for one, am proud of you.

P.S. -- Jeez, I can't believe I forgot to share this with you guys!

We got to the stadium and parked in our usual spot across from McDonald's at about 1 p.m. last Sunday for the Chargers game. We walked down to a place called Fire Water's or something like that for a little while, then headed back to the car to put on our full "game gear" (extra clothes under our jerseys).

As we were walking by McDonald's, who do you suppose we saw walking down to the stadium on the other side of the street?

DAN ROONEY HIMSELF!

Unbelievable. The guy is a multi-multi-multi millionaire and he still walks down to the stadium for the games. No Jerry Jones stretch limo. No entourage. No Art Modell bodyguards.

Just Dapper Dan taking a brisk walk. TOO COOL!

When we spotted him, I shouted across the street "We love 'ya, Mr. Rooney!" and he looked over, smiled, kinda half-waved & half-saluted, and walked on.

Dan Rooney is the friggin' CLASS of the NFL. PERIOD. Don't ever forget how lucky we are to have a guy like Mr. Rooney as the owner of our team.

Thats what I love about Our owner. He's Down to earth, honest and nice.

I was watching Super Bowl 30 today and before the game, Jim Gray had interviewed Dan Rooney.

He asked Dan what he thought the differences between himself and Jerry Jones were.

The first thing he did was start laughing before saying "vast."

He's a great man like his father. He gets respect from owners, players, fans, basically to me he's 85% of the NFL decision making.

Thanks for sharing that. Really cool.
