Crash & Burn?
The season won't end Sunday, but the Rams simply present too many matchup problems for the Steelers. Get ready to be 2-5.
Predictions for Week 8: Steelers vs Rams
Makings of a Disaster
A win? Not this week, folks...
Article by McMillen & Wife

It's not very often that I predict a Steelers loss. But folks, I just can't bring myself to paint a rosie picture this week... my well of optimism has run dry. The Rams (4-2) simply present too many matchup problems for us, and I find it difficult (if not impossible) to envision anything but defeat Sunday.

This one has the makings of a disaster.

Isaac Bruce & Torry Holt mano-a-mano with DeWayne and Chad? Gives me chills just thinking about it. True, the Rams are down to their 3rd-string running back (Marshall Faulk is still recovering from a broken hand and his backup was injured a couple of weeks ago). But with their passing game and our secondary, who needs a running game?

Defensively, the Rams are also playing well right now. They totally shut down Green Bay's star running back Ahman Green (who came into the matchup averaging 100-yards per game), holding him to a paltry 35 yards on 20 carries last week. Yet we're supposed to count on Bettis -- behind a patchwork offensive line that is among the worst in the NFL right now -- to "control the clock" against these guys?

Like I said... this one has the makings of a disaster.

To be honest, I'm so uncharacteristically pessimistic about this game that I'm finding it hard to even talk about it. I just wanna get it over with.

But hey... maybe Tommy, Hines & Plex will finally get a little somethin'-somethin' going through the air? Maybe the offensive line had a chance to gel a little bit during the bye week? Maybe the Bus is just the spark we needed? Maybe Mike Mularkey has finally devised a way to finish a drive? Maybe the odds of us losing four in a row are simply too unlikely? Maybe Terry Bradshaw's presence at the stadium will conjure a little of the 'ole big-play magic he had against the Rams in Super Bowl XIV?

Then again, maybe not.

Tims's Prediction: Rams 27, Steelers 16
Sandy's Prediction: Steelers 23, Rams 20

Hope I'm wrong, folks. See 'yins after the game!
