Coughed It Up
We could've won this game. We should've won this game. We coughed it up.

Not Dead Yet
Still time to salvage season
Article by McMillen & Wife
I have never been of the belief that the 2003 Steelers were Super Bowl pedigree. Hey, make it to the playoffs and anything can happen. But my gut since preseason has been that we don't quite have what it takes.
But what I have also said -- and I still stand by it -- is that we are a playoff-quality team. Not the upper crust of the league, perhaps, but definitely better than average. In our weak division, "better than average" should be enough to get a playoff berth.
Aside from the Browns, the teams that have beaten us have all been pretty darn good. The Chiefs, the Titans and the Broncos have a combined record of 15-3.
3-3 is probably where we should be. So, we're a game off our pace and we've gotta pick one up somewhere.
It all starts with one win.
If you look at the remainder of our schedule, it's clear that things "should" get a whole lot easier in the near future. Certainly, the Rams are no slouches, and they are our next obstacle. Seattle could be a tough nut to crack, too... I'm pretty sure we've never won a game there. It's highly possible that we could lose to both of those teams.
But you know what? 2-6 does NOT represent the end of the season in the AFC North. Don't believe me? Take a peek at who we face in our final eight regular season games (home games in caps):
CARDINALS (1-5)
49ers (2-4)
Browns (3-3)
BENGALS (1-4)
RAIDERS (2-4)
Jets (1-4)
CHARGERS (0-5)
Ravens (3-2)
I look at that stretch and I see the very real possibility of finishing the regular season with 8 straight wins.
Think I'm crazy? I'm not. Anyone wanna try to make the case that the Steelers don't have a boatload of talent? Is there any team with better receivers? Better linebackers? Are the Steelers an awful, bottom of the barrel team, or are we simply a team struggling to find an identity who had the misfortune of meeting three excellent teams who are playing their best ball?
We have a number of very real weaknesses, obviously. But I saw enough good things late in the Denver game to convince me we're gonna be okay down the stretch. Cowher is going to shake things up now... he showed it late in the Denver game, and the changes seemed to be working. In the backfield, on the O-line and in the secondary, current starters are about to lose their jobs. Mark my words. Things will change drastically in the coming weeks.
And that includes our losing streak. This team is a lot better than their record. Wait and see.
Until then, bruthas & sistas!
