Bye, George!
The Steelers are poised to extract a little revenge on Saturday.

No Soup for You!
'Soup Nazi' coaching techniques won't be enough this time
Article by McMillen & Wife
'Ya know, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but do these inbred, soup-throwing hillbillies down in Nashville REALLY think they're unbeatable? Don't buy into this bull$#!%, people. These guys are good, but they are VERY beatable.
Forget what happened in Tennessee this past November. I just popped in the tape and watched that debacle, and I can guarantee you two things about this Saturday's game: we will NOT see a repeat performance of the November game, nor will the Titans have an assistant coach throw hot soup on Joey Porter as part of their game plan.
Give Jeff Fisher a lot of credit for the win last time, because he completely caught us off guard. Defensively, the Steelers came into that game with one thing on their minds: stopping Eddie George. Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, the Titans stunned us by coming out in a spread formation, often setting up with an empty backfield. Pittsburgh never saw it coming, and McNair found the pickin's relative easy against our thoroughly confused defense. Eddie George did his damage as well, but he did it primarily on draw plays once our defense was back on their heels rather than pounding it up the gut.
Adding insult to injury were a trio of ill-advised Tommy Maddox interceptions, a pair of missed chip-shot field goals (31 and 37 yards) by Todd Peterson, and a slew of very uncharacteristic missed tackles.
Admittedly, our beaten-up secondary remains very suspect. But Tennessee won't have the element of surprise this time. Nor will they have the services of the injured Kevin Dyson, who victimized us for a pair of TDs last go 'round. Instead, Derrick Mason will be the Titan's primary receiving threat, and I fully expect the Steelers to have a couple of people around Mason at all times. Certainly, Frank Wycheck can't be ignored. But if McNair is gonna spread us out this time, he's gonna have to do it largely by relying on a couple of inexperienced, no-name receivers or tossing the ball underneath to George. That's a scenario that favors the Steelers in my view, because Tennessee's green receivers are nowhere near what we faced vs. Cleveland last week.
The wild card in all of this, as always, is McNair's legs. The Steelers did a pretty good job of containing him rushing-wise last time, but McNair was able to extend a lot of plays by evading the rush, which compounded the pressure on our secondary. The guy is almost unsackable, but a little push inside combined with outside containment can force McNair into bad throws. The Steelers will have to find a way to rattle McNair, or it could be a long day.
Offensively, the Steelers would probably be best served to spread the Titans out and throw, throw, throw. Now I realize that we will run a time of possession risk by doing this. But we did NOTHING on the ground last time; Amos and Jerome combined for a pitiful 22 yards on 13 carries in that game. The Titans are #2 against the run and something like #25 against the pass. The plan of attack seems obvious to me. I'm not suggesting we abandon the run, but I think it's safe to say this is not a team we can just pound it up the gut against.
The bottom line: This will be a high-scoring game that comes down to the wire. These guys caught us by surprise last time... it won't happen again. I've got a VERY good feeling about this game, folks. Let Tommy, Plax, Hines & Randle El do what they do best, and attack, attack, attack. If Tommy gets in a rhythm early, we'll be playing in the AFC Championship a week from Sunday.
Tims's Prediction: Steelers 30, Titans 26
Sandy's Prediction: Steelers 33, Titans 28
See 'yins after the game, bruthas & sistas!
