Key Stats & Facts
• Titans 12 of 18 on 3rd down (67%): No surprise here, unfortunately. Had the defense managed to step up on just 1 or 2 more of 'em, we go home a winner. Conversely, the Steelers were only 4 of 14 on 3rd down (29%). Had our offense managed to convert just one of 'em late, we go home a winner. Double yoi.

• Total yardage with 2 minutes left in game was 324-324: Can't help but wonder what might've been had we won the toss.

• Steelers win turnover battle 4-1: The winner of that stat that usually wins the game. If Jeff Reed hits that missed FG, or if Tommy has that pass on target to Plax in the end zone, or if... damn, I hate "what if's."

• Time of possession - Titans 37:32, Steelers 24:43: Not gonna prevail in many games that are that lopsided in time of possession, and it goes directly back to the inability of our defense to get off the field on 3rd down. The Titans had a 12:22 to 2:38 edge in the 1st quarter and a 10:17 to 4:43 edge in the 3rd quarter. Of course, the most costly deficit came in overtime (2:15 to 0:00).

• Games defense allowed over 30 points in 2001 - ZERO. Games Games defense allowed over 30 points in 2002 - EIGHT: What to do? Points allowed (including playoffs) also soared from 246 in 2001 to 412 in 2002. My guess is that we'll beef up our secondary via free agency, because there are several quality players becoming available. Kordell Stewart's exit will free up major cap room, and Jerome will either restructure or be gone as well.
