Key Stats & Facts
The Steelers are now 22-1 when Sandy attends the game: Merely a coincidence? Perhaps. But I'm thinkin' maybe the Steelers oughta cough up some complimentary season tickets for the McMillens...
Steelers score 29 points in final 18:50 minutes of game! During that stretch, Tommy Maddox hit 22 of 30 passes (including 11 of his first 12) for 247 yards and 3 TDs. Way to finish a game, Tommy!

Glorious Win!

YEEAAHH, BABY!!! The Steelers are now 22-1 when Sandy attends the game!

A snapshot of the game from our seats.

Football Heaven!
Attending comeback playoff win over Browns my greatest moment as a fan!
Article by McMillen & Wife
From my perspective, you couldn't have written a better script for a game. The playoffs. The hated Brownies. The snow. The Comeback.
And Sandy & I were there to see it with our own eyes, hear it with our own ears, and eat snowflakes with our own tongues.
It has been 4 days since the game as of this writing, and I still don't have my voice back. The homies in my "water cooler gang" (dejected Browns fans, all) have been razzing me mercilessly because I now sound like Super Dave Osbourne. It's so bad, in fact, that I had to pull to the window to squeak out my order at the Wendy's drive-thru yesterday at lunch. Seriously! But in all honesty, I hope my voice stays like this for good long time, because every time I utter a word, my raspy voice reminds me where I was last Sunday. As an added bonus, a day hasn't gone by when some unsuspecting sap in a Browns cap asks me what's wrong with my voice. Gotta love that!
What a glorious day it was, bruthas & sistas. What a glorious day! I will never forget the feeling of complete elation that raced through my veins when Fu crossed the goal line for the game-winning TD. The stadium, which barely registered a pulse at times during the game, seemed to lift off its very foundation from the roar of the crowd. I've experienced many great moments as a Steeler fan (including several Super Bowl victories) but being at the game last Sunday was by far the greatest.
Jeff White (aka NOYFB on our message board), you are a prince among men for enabling us to get those tickets at face value. I've scheduled an appointment next Tuesday with our attorney to have you added to my will.
The Steelers are now 22-1 when Sandy attends the game.
We should've known all along that our victory was secure. After all, Sandy was in the house! But I'd be lying if I said we didn't have our moments of doubt during the game. I can't count how many times Sandy and I looked at each other in disbelief and disappointment during the first three quarters of play. But like the Steelers, we never gave up hope... and that final quarter was, to say the least, magical.
But it gets better, folks...
Only occasional flashes of brown and orange could be spotted in the sea of Black and Gold in the stands on Sunday, but as luck would have it, a pair of very vocal Browns fans from Parma just happened to be sitting directly behind Sandy and me. For the better part of 3 hours, we got a steady diet of smug laughter, amused snorts and assorted trash-talk from these two half-wits ("Free Willy" seemed to be their favorite phrase, even though William Green contributed next to nothing to the Browns' cause). Their chatter peaked when Cleveland went up 33-21 with 10 minutes left in the game and a few so-called Steeler fans started heading for the exits. But in the end, their pained expressions of utter despair and hopelessness -- obviously all too familiar on the faces of these two Dawg biscuit-munching schmucks -- made enduring the 3 hours of pro-Cleveland smak one of the most wonderful elements of the game. The victory simply wouldn't have been complete without a pair of demoralized Brownies to "console" with a pseudo-sympathetic "good game" pat on the back.
Have a nice drive down the turnpike, losers. :-)
Regardless of what happens in the playoffs from here on out, this game is gonna stay with me for a long, LOOONG time. I've been to a lot of Steelers games, but I've never seen anything like this. We were literally dancing in the aisles after Fu's TD. The celebration after the game was indescribable. The deafening roar of the crowd never subsided as we all spilled from inside the stadium down into the "Great Hall." We were flat-out partying, waving Terrible Towels, screaming and hollering, singing "Renegade" and chanting "Here we go, Steelers!" and "The Titans are NEXT!" and high-fiving each other as we made our way back to our cars. Outside, car horns were blaring excitedly and shouts of "long live Tommy Maddox!" and "Cleveland SUCKS!" could be heard everywhere. It was football heaven on earth, people.
Indeed, this was my greatest moment as a Steeler fan. I wish all of you could've been there with us. LONG LIVE THE STEELERS!!!

Thought and talked about you and Sandy during the game a few times. It's cool when you know it's, getting done right, by people you can trust.

Comment: Re: Thought and talked about you and Sandy
Wish you could've been there, Tommy. It was SOOOO fun. I've never experienced anything quite like that. The energy going through the crowd at the end of that game is beyond description. Still get serious warm fuzzies at the slightest thought of it.
Some non-game-related tidbits...
Our normal parking spot (next to Subway) was available, but instead of the usual $15 fee, we were met with a $30 price tag. I almost expected the lot attendant to hand me a ransom note. Of course, we forgot the stinkin' camera again, but this time I was smart enough to head to the souvenier stand and buy a disposable one. Highway robbery! $15 for a disposable camera! In the end, it was well worth the investment, I suppose, although I won't know for sure until we get the pictures developed. We also dined on Primanti's before the game. Two "Pitts-Burgers" and two cokes (mostly ice) for... gulp... $18! Enjoyed the meal even though we had to sacrifice our childrens' college fund to get it.
I screamed so loud at the game that by the ime it was over, my head was just pounding. I was apopleptic the whole time. Didn't take even one play off on defense, even during our darkest moments... couldn't let those Browns fans behind us see any signs of cracking. When we stopped by Sandy's sister's in Aliquippa, I eagerly popped a fistful of Advil.
My voice is still shot. I can finally speak somewhat normally now at low volume today, but if I raise my voice even slightly in volume or pitch, I instantly go into puberty flashbacks.
The snow was awesome. I lived out so many dreams last Sunday. It was my first playoff game, my first Browns game and my first snow game. Any one of those elements would've been more than enough... to experience all three (with a comeback win to boot) was simply over the top.
Again I'll say it. I wish so much that you guys could've been there.

Thanks for the great week of trash talk. Congratulations on a fantastic come-from-behind win.
Obviously it was meant to be, since Tim and Sandy were there live cheering on your Steelers. I thought that the Browns did a good job early in the game, especially for a team that “backed into the playoff.” But later in the game they started running their “doughnut” defense. (A regular “D” with a big hole in the middle) See you guys next year, if you don't mind, I’ll stop by now and then to yak it up with you guys. Take it easy.
Have a great post season run!!!

Comment: Game Ball
I have 6 players who I would give a ball to for their performance:
Maddox
Bell
Ward
Randle El
Washington
Logan
I would give a ball to Kordell, because he did one h***
of a job waving that terrible towel. Unfortunately you have to play to get a ball. However no one else except Washington and Logan in our secondary deserves any credit. Poteat, Flowers Townsend, and Alexander played terrible
My play of the game was Logans Int., which was crucial in our comeback.
I would also like to give credit to Cowher for sticking with Tommy, and finally gave someone else control of the play calling. Let Tommy call the shots from now on
I think this may have been one of those moments that brings together and builds a championship team
Lets go TommyGun!!!!!!!!
Bring on the Titans!!!!!!!

Comment: Amazing Maddox stats!
Check out Tommy's stats during the Steelers' amazing comeback stretch in the final quarter-and-a-half of the game:
22 of 30 (including 11 of his first 12) for 247 yards and 3 TDs.
Way to finish a game, Tommy!

Comment: Maddox
I will state that Tommy had a great day!!!
But, you have to give a lot of credit to the receivers too. They forgot how to drop balls!!!!! Ward and Plex were outstanding and Tuman (spelling) was great when it was his turn.
What impressed me most about Tommy is the halftime speech he made to the team. He has taken over as the team leader.

Comment: more credit
In addition to crediting Tommy, the receivers, and the Brown's DBs for a nice tip and dropped INTs, be sure to credit the Brown's defensive coaches for refusing to rush more than 3 guys throughout the entire comeback. I read that Coach Davis insists that the Browns didn't change their defensive strategy after they got the big lead but it didn't look that way on my TV.

Comment: An observation about some threads that I’ve read...
No disrespect for the Steelers or Tommy, but the Browns dominated them for 54˝ minutes, and then came unglued on defense and executed one of the most stunning playoff collapses of all time.
The Browns committed three penalties in four plays, each penalty helped the Steelers with stopping the clock and giving the Steelers a first down. First, Rudd’s holding call on the seventh play of the series during a Maddox sack. Next play, cornerback Anthony Henry dropped an interception. Next play, cornerback Lewis Sanders was penalized for illegal contact. On the next play, safety Robert Griffith was slapped with a personal foul for helmet-to-helmet contact with Ward after an incomplete pass. All of these were legitimate calls, and assisted Maddox to drive the field to bring the Steelers to 33-28.
We talked earlier in the week that the Steelers could only lose by the hands of the Steelers. In this Game the Browns beat the Browns. Bad clock management, a pass that should have been caught (no offense to Northcutt), and like I said before, Cleveland’s shift to a doughnut defense.
Kelly was awesome, 26 of 43 for 429 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked once and earned a qb rating of 107.6. Hell even Steelers had praise for him…
"I would much rather play Couch than Holcomb," - Porter-
"Holcomb was very smart and poised. He'll be a starting quarterback in the NFL for a long time." - Kimo von Oelhoffen -
And this standup kid, blamed his one interception of the game for the huge shift in momentum that led to the loss.
If the Browns had won, I would have read here that the Steelers beat themselves. But because the Browns lost, I read how you beat the "crap" out us on a great comeback. Simple truth be told, our defense loss us the game.
But in any case, once again, congratulations on your latest victory and have a good playoff run.

Comment: Re: An observation about some threads that I’ve read...
The Drive. The Fumble.
THE COMEBACK.
Simple truth be told, our secondary ALMOST lost us the game. Then Holcomb tossed Mike Logan a gift and Northcutt turned into Jackie Smith.
Tommy down the stretch: 22 of 30, 247 yards, 3 TDs... ALL WHEN IT MATTERED MOST.
Enjoy the off-season, LUZR. :-)

Comment: response
LUSR, would you say that the bad clock management and the defensive "shell" were coaching decisions? I would.
Best quote I heard all week " Neither Bill Cowher or Butch Davis has to worry about being out-coached!!!"
Their lack of attention to detail and preparation make me crazy! That being said if Cowher pulls out a win this Saturday, I will be a Cowher Cowhead and "just shut up"!

Comment: I forgot to mention...
"THE GHOST" you're right, and yes I read that quote too and I wonder if they really mean it.
The one thing that I forgot to mention in my above posting, was that the Steelers deserved the win for one reason.... POISE. They kept it, Browns lost it and then lost the game.

Comment: Ummm...3 times in one year....again
Don't mean to gloat, but I should think that most Cleveland Brown fans might want to, you know, sort of, pipe down for awhile. The last two times the Browns made the playoffs were in years that we went 3-0 against them. (1994 and 2002) Yet in both years, they continue to delude themselves into thinking that maybe they are as good as the Steelers. I'd say 3-0 against any team in the same year is pretty good evidence as to who is the better team that year.
As for the Steelers losing playoff games at home, it is a concern and I hope we get a chance to reverse that trend this year. It would be something if the Jets beat the Raiders and we beat the Titans. The AFC Championship game would be in Pittsburgh for the fifth time in nine years. In Cleveland, the last time was 1986 when they choked against Elway. At least we get a chance to lose. The Browns will be watching on TV.
In conclusion, the Browny fans can say what they want, but the last time I checked, we were 4-1 in SuperBowls, and they were 0-0. And we are 2-0 in the playoffs against them. How does it feel always looking up at the Steelers?
